My Baby Shower

On Sunday, I had my baby shower at the Woodland Golf Club in Newton, MA. We squeezed it in before wedding season really picked up and got the best of me, and I’m sure glad I did it that way because it took a lot out of this introvert! Few! I’m actually not sure how people do it later in pregnancy (I’m 23 weeks along now for reference haha). Anyways, it was such a delicious brunch and time spent surrounded by friends and family. My mom made beautiful flower centerpieces and the cutest diaper cake. My sister, Kelly, really did an amazing job pulling everything together, along with my cousins and friends!

I also want to give a shout out to a few vendors who are super talented and helped make my shower pretty (and yummy!): Balloon Garland from Etsy, The Cookie Lady’s Daughter and Razzy’s Cake (beautifully designed by my MIL) in Billerica, MA. Also thank you to Dan’s cousins’s wife, Donna DeSimone, for taking my camera and snapping any pic that has me in it! My dress is a super old Donna Morgan and my nephews adorable pink polos (with T-Rex’s on them!) are from J.Crew Factory.

Please please please do yourself a favor and hire Veronica of The Cookie Lady’s Daughter for custom decorated cookies for your Bridal/Baby Shower, Bachelorette party, birthday party, etc. She is AMAZING and it’s always nice to support another young, local female entrepreneur : )

Max and Jack being goofy and I love it!

I told them if they smiled for my camera they would get to help me open the presents and below this is Max being like, “Jack are you smiling! I want to open the presents!!” Gosh, I love a good bribe.

Oh btw, we’re naming our little Baby C: Madison Alicia. (Pronounced “Ah-Lish-Ah” after my grandmother.) Maddie for short!

Thanks everyone who made our Baby Shower such a great memory and for supporting us as we become new parents! Baby C is already so loved!

I love your bridal shower dress and those cookies!! Also love the name, specifically the middle name since it’s my name. I’m really curious as to where my parents came up with my name because growing up I only knew of 1 other Alicia in my middle school. I liked that my name was a bit more unique. Then 2 years ago I moved to upstate NY and a few of my co workers have relatives named Alicia and I have met a couple other Alicia’s. So I’m thinking my name is more popular in NY state? Plus my parents are originally both from NY state, so that was just interesting to me. Anyway so excited for you!!

  2. Your dress is so pretty! One perk to having your bridal shower so early is that you look especially good in your photos. Granted, women look beautiful in all stages of pregnancy but I was not as thrilled with how I looked in photos in the later stages of pregnancy! All the decor and food looked amazing!!
I’m an introvert, too, and don’t love a lot of attention. So when my mom/sisters/SILs planned mine, they put clever wording in the invitation about not wrapping the gift. People actually followed that and most brought an unwrapped gift. At my bridal shower I felt so uncomfortable unwrapping gifts so it was nice to skip that for the baby shower. I still went through my gifts at the end of the shower as some were interested in what I got, but it was very short and put less attention on me which was nice!

  3. Aww, looks fun! I am a few weeks behind you and also having a girl! I hate all photos of me from my baby shower that I had in 2011. Ugh!

Wow it turned out so beautiful! That balloon arch is AMAZING. And so are those cookies. They look delicious! I love the name Maddie. That’s my cousins daughter’s name and it is so cute. Also so special that you are using your grandma’s name as her middle name!
